Family Visa Application Guide: How to Apply for Multiple Family Members - Family Travel

Applying for Malaysia visas for your entire family can seem overwhelming, but with proper planning and organization, the process becomes much simpler. This guide will help you navigate family visa applications efficiently.

Benefits of Group Application
  • All family members processed together
  • Shared accommodation and travel details
  • Easier to manage all applications together
Who Counts as Family Members?

For visa purposes, family typically includes:

  • Spouse
  • Children (minor and adult)
  • Parents
  • Siblings (in some cases)
Documents Required for Each Family Member

Every family member needs their own set of documents:

Money-Saving Tips for Family Applications
  • Book Accommodation Together: One hotel booking for the whole family
  • Shared Flight Bookings: Book all tickets in one reservation
  • Primary Applicant Bank Statement: Main earning member's statement can cover family
  • Standard Processing: Use standard processing if time permits
Special Considerations for Children
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Mismatched Travel Dates

Ensure all family members have same flight bookings

Different Hotel Bookings

Use one accommodation booking for all

Incomplete Child Documents

Don't forget birth certificates and consent letters

Expired Passports

Check every family member's passport validity

Wrong Photo Specs

Ensure children's photos also meet specifications

Missing Proof

Include marriage and birth certificates

Financial Documentation for Families

For family applications, you typically need to show financial capacity to support everyone's trip:

Primary earner's bank statements (for social visits: the last 3 months)
Prepare evidence of sufficient funds for your trip, where required.
Employment letter from primary earner
Additional income proof if available
Processing Time for Family Applications

Family applications are submitted together, but each person's application is decided individually by Immigration, so timing can differ between family members. Allow extra time so that everyone can travel together.

  • Apply at least 2 weeks before travel
  • Consider Express (priority handling by our team) if your travel date is close; it does not guarantee a faster decision
  • Allow extra time during peak holiday seasons
After Visa Approval

Once approved, you'll receive separate eVisa PDFs for each family member. Print all eVisas and carry them during your Malaysia trip. Each person must present their individual eVisa at immigration.

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

Remember, every family member (including children) needs a separate MDAC submission. Fill out MDAC for each person within 3 days before arrival in Malaysia.

Tips for a Smooth Family Trip
  • Keep all passports and eVisas in one safe place
  • Make copies of all documents
  • Have digital copies on your phone
  • Brief children on immigration procedures
  • Arrive at airport early with family
  • Keep documents easily accessible during journey
