Understanding Processing Time

It's important to understand when your visa processing actually starts and how to plan your travel accordingly

Many applicants are confused about when the processing time begins. Processing time starts after we submit your complete application to the Malaysia Immigration portal - not when you submit your application to us.

Before submission to Immigration, we need to review and verify all your documents. If anything is missing or incorrect, we'll request corrections, which delays your submission to Immigration. During this stage, the official processing clock has not started yet.

Plan Your Travel Accordingly:

Do not book your flight before receiving approval. Immigration processing typically takes 2-7 working days and can take longer, so apply well in advance and only book travel after receiving your approved eVisa.

Validity Period

eVisa Validity

The validity period is shown on your eVisa note as issue and expiry dates. For Fly & Cruise and Wedding Tourism it is 3 months from issue; for Medical Treatment and Business it is 6 months from issue.

Stay Duration: For a Single Entry eVisa, your permitted stay depends on your nationality's eligibility for each entry. For a Multiple Entry eVisa, each entry allows a 30-day stay.

Entry Types

Single Entry

Enter Malaysia one time only during validity

Multiple Entry (limited purposes only)

From 1 September 2026, limited to 31 eligible nationalities for Fly & Cruise, Business, Medical Treatment and Wedding Tourism. Each entry allows a 30-day stay.

Important: Whether your visa or permitted stay can be extended depends on the type of visa, your nationality, the permission granted to you at entry and the Immigration Department's decision. Your eVisa validity (the period in which you may enter) is separate from your permitted stay (how long you may remain after each entry). Do not assume an extension is available: confirm with the Immigration Department before your permitted stay ends.

Entry Points

Malaysia eVisa holders can enter the country through any entry point:

By Air

All international airports in Malaysia including KLIA, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and more

By Land

All land border checkpoints from Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, and Indonesia

By Sea

All seaports and ferry terminals in Malaysia

Flexibility: Unlike some other visa types, the eVisa gives you complete freedom to choose your entry point into Malaysia.

What to Bring When You Arrive

Prepare these documents for immigration control at your point of entry to Malaysia

eVisa Printout

Printed copy of your approved eVisa (digital version on phone also accepted but printed is recommended)

Important Immigration Notice

Your eVisa does not guarantee entry. The Immigration Officer at the point of entry has final authority to approve or deny entry based on their assessment.

If approved for entry, you will receive a stamp on your passport indicating the number of days you are permitted to stay in Malaysia.

Always carry your eVisa and supporting documents with you during your travel to Malaysia and keep them accessible during your stay.
